U.K. study that shows employees who feel comfortable in their workspaces are more engaged with their work. And we all know that a cluttered space leads to a cluttered mind. So, if you are working remotely, how to keep your virtual place clean and neat?

Here you have some ideas…

1. Clean and Rise!

Feel like it’s you versus your desk when you arrive at work? Stop the battle. Get organized and create systems. You need to keep your space functional. Have in mind what apps you need for your daily activities and keep that at hand. Browsers such as Chrome allow you to organize different links in the Bookmarks Bar while giving you the functionality to create folders and even subfolders. Rambox allows you to have your most-used apps in the same environment “a workspace” and you can have more than one according to your projects or your needs.

2. Be an App fan!

When working remotely, your computer is your office. And managing your whole office within a single device requires substantial considerations in terms of storage space, accessibility and security. Using the right applications can help with this significantly.

It’s important to ensure that you can quickly access applications like Google Drive, Gmail, Dropbox, Zoom, and Slack. It’s best to define a specific use case for each of these apps. For example, email is only used for client communication and chat is strictly used for team communication.

3. Get focused!

The daily organization includes reducing visual clutter, being clear about the week’s tasks and being able to enter concentration mode. The best way is by turning off notifications (Rambox has this option), separating blocks of time for specific tasks (Technical Pomodoro) and isolating yourself to get into the flow and avoid distractions.

4. Have fun 🙂

We spend most of our time performing a task, so why don’t we do it fun? Have quirky stationery, colored keyboards or personalized mugs.

Put up some wallpaper art too. Here you can download a couple of Rambox cool designs.

Marie Kondo is well-known for suggesting that we shouldn’t get too attached to items that fail to ‘spark joy’ in us. When it comes to your desk, you shouldn’t be afraid to be picky about what you display. If an item doesn’t spark joy, don’t keep it on your desk. This is a simple way to ensure that your desk space is enjoyable for you and that you don’t use it as a quick storage solution for random items.

A workspace that’s organized is not a magical time-saver, but it helps you get more done because you know where everything is, aren’t overwhelmed by visual distraction and can focus on the task at hand.

Happy working!
